This year, like most people, I have made some resolutions. Tales of Beedle the Bard!!!

You probably heard of the book that J.K Rowling hand wrote and illustrated. She only made seven copies. She gave six away to friends and auctioned off one of them. Amazon Store Highlights - Hasbro Playskool Step Start Walk 'n Ride

Since Willow is now putting stuff INTO things as well as taking them OUT of things, we got her the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Musical Fishbowl.

Amazon Store Highlights - Fisher-Price Baby Papasan Infant Seat

In my opinion, an infant seat ia a MUST. It allows you to get a few things done while your baby relaxes right beside you. It's also good for feeding your baby if you don't have or want to use a Boppy. I had the Fisher-Price Baby Papasan Infant Seat and I LOVED it. (This was another gift from my lovely, all knowing, sister)

Highlights include soft and cushy fabrics to cuddle your baby (including a micro suede pillow for baby's head) and this chair VIBRATES!!! (That has to be the best feature) It also plays soothing music, either classic or lullaby (10 songs in all). The music plays continuously for 15 minutes and there is a volume adjustment.

Amazon Store Highlights - Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump

I knew I wanted to breastfeed from the moment I got pregnant. But I also knew that I would be working and I would need a breast pump to express milk when Willow was unable to nurse because I was at work. (You may (or may not) have read about my woes when it came to breastfeeding) But, since Willow never latched on, I was glad that I had spent the money and bought what I feel is the best breast pump out there, the Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump.

The great thing about this breast pump is that it has two nozzles so you can express from both breasts at once, if you care to. It has a variable control so you can decide how much suction you would like to have. When I first started, I went with what it felt like when Willow tried to nurse and then as I used it, I was able to up the suction until I had it maxed out. And let me tell you. I know everyone is different, but when I really got into the pumping groove, I pumped an ounce a minute.

I just can't say enough good things about this pump. It's easy to use and has a handy shoulder bag to carry it in and comes with a freezer pack to store the milk. Everything a pumping mom needs!

While I'm at it, I'll go ahead and recommend some nipple cream since you'll definitely need it either if you are nursing or pumping milk. The best stuff out there (in my opinion) is Lansinoh.

It brought me GREAT relief for my very sore nipples when I was pumping and a little goes a long way. Read more!

Amazon Store Highlights - Cool Mist Humidifier

Willow has gotten sick on and off since she was born just like everyone does. One time when she was particularly congested we finally got her a humidifier. We opted for the "cool mist" humidifier. After doing a little searching, we settled on this cute frog humidifier by Crane. (They come in a lot of cute designs as you can see below)

So, why get a humidifier? Well, The National Institutes of Health recommends the use of humidifiers to help relieve congestion from the common cold, flu and sinus infections. Any time you have congestion, a humidifier may be able to help. They add moisture to the air which will in turn moisten your skin (including nasal passages) and thin some of the mucous in your sinuses. This makes it easier for you to breathe and easier for the mucous to drain.

Amazon Store Highlights - Papasan Swing

One of the best gifts we got when Willow was first born was the Papasan Swing. It was a gift from her lovely aunt and she loved it.

The really great thing about this swing is that it can swing either side-to-side or back-to-front. And the mobile is cute because it moves and twirls (if you want it to) and you can choose whether or not to play music. Willow loved sleeping in this swing.

The ONLY drawback for this swing is that it takes batteries. Yes, it is mobile but I would have preferred something that plugged in. But that's just us and I don't have any idea if there is an infant swing in existence that plugs in. Read more!

Amazon Store Highlights - SafeFit Baby In Sight

I have this mirror in my car. Willow is in a rear facing car seat (for the next three months or so) and this mirror is great because it is large and Willow likes looking in it as much as I like being able to see her.

It fits really securely so I am not worried about it coming loose in the event of an accident. Even after she is forward facing, I will be moving this mirror so she can still see into it. Read more!

Amazon Store Highlights - Twilight Turtle

I was reading my Parents magazine (or maybe it was Baby Talk) and I saw an ad for the Twilight Turtle. I thought "what a wonderful idea for a night light!" So, I looked it up on the Internet and I bought it right way.

This is a fantastic idea. The only complaint I have about it is that you really need to have it in the center of the room and slightly elevated for it to look the best. But anywhere we had it, it looked nice. And I love that there are three colors to choose from to illuminate the room. The stars are in the form of the constellations in the night sky, complete with a star chart and it automatically shuts off after 45 minutes. Read more!

Amazon Store Highlights - The Boppy

If you are going to be breastfeeding or bottle feeding, the Boppy is a MUST.

This is a pillow that fits around you for your baby to lay on when he or she is being fed and it is absolutely one of the best things we have. It's more comfortable than a regular bed pillow and your baby can be closer to you when they are eating than if you have them in an infant bouncer or chair. This is especially wonderful for fathers who feed their babies and want to have that closeness. They have different sizes but I have never had a problem with this, traditional, size.

There are also a ton of wonderful covers that you can buy that have different patterns and textures. Or, you can just leave it plain. It all works the same.

There is also a Newborn lounger that you can buy. We don't have this, but it is the only support pillow designed for newborns and preemies. You should NEVER let your child sleep on the Boppy or the Newborn Lounger (due to the suffocation hazard), but you can use it like you would a bouncer for feeding and play.

ETA:
I had on this post regarding the "Newborn Lounger" that it can be used for sleep. I added that to the description since that is how it is described on Amazon. Specifically (from the Amazon website) it says: "Placing baby on his or her back in the lounger also ensures safe positioning, giving baby the opportunity to either look around at his surroundings or close his eyes and nap."

I was contacted by the Director of Marketing with the Boppy Company regarding using this item to sleep. Since the Boppy Company warns against using this item for sleep, I have changed my description. Amazon Store Highlights - Baby Gym

One of the things that kept Willow engaged when she was a smaller (immobile) baby was a mat she could lay on with toys dangling for her to look and grab at. We are a fan of Baby Einstein products, not because of the name (I am not one of those who thinks that early exposure to things like classical music does a lick of good) but because of the bright colors and textures.

That is why I have in my Amazon store the Baby Einstein Seek and Discover Deluxe Gym.
