My sister is the baker in the family, not me. She is always cooking up treats like cookies and cupcakes and scones and the like and they are ALWAYS delicious. The thing I like to make is cakes. I will take cake over ice cream and chocolate and pretty much any other goody you can throw at me, every time. I am always known at work for being "The one who makes the delicious cakes" and I am about to share my secret weapon with you.
Anne Byrne is known as The Cakemix Doctor. From her website: "Anne Byrn is a national award winning newspaper and magazine food writer with more than 20 years of experience. She is the former food editor of The Atlanta Journal Constitution and The Tennessean, has authored two previous food books (Cooking in the New South and Food Gifts for All Seasons), and hosted a radio show, Food Bites, on WNAH-AM in Nashville, Tennessee -- the heart of the Cake Belt -- where she lives with her family."
I don't remember exactly how I came across these cookbooks, but I now own the following:
They are a great addition to any cookbook collection and the "doctoring" she does with cakes are just adding ingredients to a store bought cakemix to make them taste homemade. And we can't forget to mention the AWESOME and EASY homemade frosting recipes in the back of the book.
So, weather you need a cake for a co-worker or cupcakes for a school birthday, look no further than these books for the tools that will make you known as the resident "Cake Lady".
