Are We Having Fun Yet?

I have a co-worker that always asks me that and I always answer "Are we EVER having any fun?" referring to being at work.

But that got me thinking...when are we ever having any fun?

Picture this: It's the weekend and the kids are with the grandparents (or the babysitter, or some other caregiver that is giving you those few and far between precious hours alone). This is the time to relax and concentrate on yourself and your relationship for the day. No kids. You can breathe a little easy for a few hours at least, right? Nope. Why? Because something ALWAYS comes up.

And even if you have planned (like we have) to take a small vacation (say, 2 days on your 7th anniversary), you still plan out the days you have to yourself to (often times) such an extreme in order to "fit everything in" that you might be missing out on that it can take the fun out of it. Now don't get me wrong, we are going to Walt Disney World (Epcot to be specific) and the only things we have specifically "planned" are our dinner times, but I can see how things can easily snowball out of control.

These things always coming up and trying to fit so much into my "free" time (when I get some, which is almost never) is why I am such a "go with the flow" advocate. And let's face it, even though I try my best to "go with the flow" I still stick to a "window" when it comes to nap time and feedings, but I am trying.

I am trying to go and run that errand when I think of it instead of waiting until in between Willow's nap times because (God forbid) she might fall asleep in the car or something. But I often times fail. So, I am going to try and do what I say and say what I do and be more "go with the flow" because let's fact it, babies have their own schedule no matter what you try and do.

I seriously feel sorry for those people who have to have everything "just so" at just the right time because with a baby, everything you thought you knew goes right out the window. And that's after you have been doing this "mom" thing for almost a year.

So do yourself a favor and try not to schedule everything to the minute because it's when you do that that you miss out on the fun you are supposed to be having. And shouldn't life be fun at least some of the time?
