I am from the northeast. Up north when the temperature reaches 70 degrees Fahrenheit, it's time to break out the short pants. Here in Houston when the temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit, you break out the sweater because it's a cold day out. What a difference a thousand miles can make.
That's why I like to check the temperature outside in the morning by checking the shampoo...
When I am in the shower, I open the shampoo bottle and put some in my hand in preparation for washing my hair. If it's thicker than normal, I know it's cold out. If it's runnier then normal, I know it's hot. You might think that this is a crazy way to check the weather but honest to God, it works every time. I'm not quite sure what "normal" is but if I saw it I could tell you.
Since it's starting to be "cold" outside (I put the word "cold" in quotes because it's not really cold out), it's time to go and buy Willow a sweater and some slippers. The downstairs is half carpet and half laminate and the laminate can be cold on little feet. And since she is 13 months old you can forget about trying just socks. They are off as soon as they are on if shoes don't quickly follow.
The fall and winter is the time of the year where I miss the northeast and am just a bit jealous of my sister who recently moved to Washington D.C.
