Boundless Energy

I watch my 8-month-old daughter playing on the floor with all of her toys and I am amazed at how her energy seems boundless.

I sit with her in the rocking chair trying to read a "touch and feel" book and she is constantly grabbing for new things and not really paying attention, unless she really likes the book. She is really loving the touch and feel books right now. Especially when we read the book with farm animals in it and I make the animal noises for the duck, chicken, sheep, goat, horse, and pig.

Soon, she is bored with "reading" and sits quietly on the floor playing with her Counting with Oswald book. And by playing I mean when it's not in her mouth, she is flinging it down on the floor and then picking it up again. And when it's a little too far for her to reach, she makes her way over to it by pulling herself with her arms and pushing with her legs. Not crawling yet, but getting there.

It's funny how the simplest toys are the ones she likes the best. We have extra Lively Linkswith which you hook toys on her car seat or baby Einstein toy and she likes just playing with and sucking on those. Forget the "toys".

And she never stops unless it is time for her to eat or nap. If we are walking around she is grabbing for the door knob or the wall or the light switch. If she is playing and something catches her eye she won't stop until she has it. Her determination is extraordinary in my humble opinion. And forget about snuggling for more than about 20 seconds. There is way too much to do and see.

I am in awe of her and jealous all at the same time. She is so amazing and has her whole life in front of her and the world at her fingertips.
