I read recently that, when it comes to parenting, it's when you realize that you have no control over anything that you finally really have control.
I think this is true. I am a firm believer that you have to watch your baby for cues that they are ready for things. No matter how many times you show them something or want them to try something, they won't do what you want them to until they are ready.
Take standing. I am always standing Willow up. What does she do? She holds her legs up so as to not be able to stand at all, or if I get her to stand for a second, she immediately sits down. She does not want to stand yet.
How about eating? We are always giving Willow new foods off of our plates for her to try. If we have it on a fork or spoon and put it up to her mouth, she will turn her head away and make a face. If we put it on her tray and let HER do it, she will try it.
Aah, independence. It does start this early.
So, I am firmly in the "go with the flow" camp (for now). If I change my mind, I'll let you know. The day gets messed up all the time. It HAS TO in order to be able to live your life.
